FRISCO, Texas- Nicaragua is looking to face Haiti with a different attitude as it gets ready for its second match of Concacaf Gold Cup Group B on Thursday night at Toyota Stadium.

“We have been working optimistically on tomorrow's game,” said MF Juan Barrera. “We’ve been working on those mistakes we’ve made, in order for us to not repeat them. We are focused. I think tomorrow’s team comes with a different attitude. There are still some matches left so we still have the chance to move to the next round and we have to keep giving it our all,” said Barrera.

Barrera, who is Nicaragua’s active-leader with the most matches played in the Gold Cup, is also the team’s top scorer. In Concacaf Nations League Qualifying 2018-19 he scored five goals but is perhaps best remembered for his incredible hat-trick against Haiti in the 2017 Gold Cup Qualifier, which came in the final five minutes of the match.

A defining player that can change the course of the match and make the difference, Barrera is the type of player that Nicaragua Head Coach Henry Duarte will be looking for in the match-up.

"I'm not as interested in what Haiti can do, but what we are capable of doing,” stated Duarte. “How we counterattack and lead the game to get points."

"We know that tomorrow is going to be a very difficult game, a close match because we know Haiti,” said Barrera.  “They also know we have good players, and hopefully tomorrow we can open up the scoreboard, and get a good result,” concluded Barrera.
