CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Canada and Cuba wrap up their respective 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup Group A campaigns with a pivotal clash on Sunday at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Canada currently sits in second place in the group with three points, with a three-goal advantage on goal difference over Martinique and can put itself into a good position for a quarterfinal berth with a full three points against Cuba.
Four different players have found the back of the net for Canada in the Gold Cup, and they will try to add to that tally on Sunday.
It won’t be an easy task, though, against a Cuba side that has shown plenty of threat in its two matches thus far.
If not for some excellent goalkeeping from Martinique’s Loic Chauvet, Cuba would have had its first goal in the tournament in last Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat.
Nevertheless, the likes of FW Luis Paradela, who had five goals in 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League Qualifying, will aim to lead Cuba to its first Gold Cup victory since 2015.
