MIAMI, Florida – Panama’s 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup has come to an end following a 5-1 defeat to Brazil in their Group D finale on Sunday at the Svyturys Arena in Klaipeda.

The Panamanian defense did an excellent job in keeping the dangerous Brazilian attack in check for the first 15 minutes, but two goals in the final five minutes of the first half allowed the Brazilians to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

After Brazil added a third, Panama would pull a goal back 3-1 in the 32nd minute through Alfonso Maquensi, but a late rally was not meant to be, as Brazil tallied another two goals to see things out.

The United States will conclude their group stage campaign on Monday as they take on Serbia in their Group F finale at the Svyturys Arena in Klaipeda.

Luciano Gonzalez leads the U.S. in scoring in the tournament with two goals and will look to add to that tally in what will be the first ever meeting between the two nations.
