MIAMI — The Concacaf quartet participating in the FIFA Futsal World Cup Uzbekistan 2024 have learned their opponents following Sunday’s group stage draw in Samarkand.
Costa Rica was placed in Group A with hosts Uzbekistan, the Netherlands, and Paraguay. Los Ticos will play against Paraguay on the tournament’s opening day.
Cuba was positioned in Group B with Brazil, the five-time champions and all-time leader in the competition, Croatia, and Thailand.
Concacaf Futsal Champions Panama was drawn into Group E with defending champions Portugal, Tajikistan, and Morocco. Guatemala will play in Group F against Iran, Venezuela, and France.
Here are the complete pairings for the group stage:
- Group A: Uzbekistan, Netherlands, Paraguay, Costa Rica
- Group B: Brazil, Cuba, Croatia, Thailand
- Group C: Argentina, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Angola
- Group D: Spain, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Libya
- Group E: Portugal, Panama, Tajikistan, Morocco
- Group F: IR Iran, Venezuela, Guatemala, France
The top two teams in each group and the four best third-placed teams will reach the knockout phase, featuring a round of 16, quarterfinals, semi-finals, a third-place play-off, and a final.
Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, and Panama earned the right to represent the region as the semifinalists of the recently contested 2024 Concacaf Futsal Championship. Tournament champions Panama will make a fourth appearance, while the other three nations will participate in their sixth FIFA Futsal World Cup.
The 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup will occur from September 14 to October 6 in Uzbekistan. The four participating Concacaf nations will aim to become the first nation from the region to be crowned world champions.
