Sonia Bien-Aime (pictured) will be a panelist at CONCACAF's Let's Develop Women's Football conference on October 25, 2014.
MIAMI – Sonia Bien-Aime -- President of the Turks & Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA) and Executive Committee member at both FIFA and CONCACAF -- will participate on the “Football Changed My Life” panel at the CONCACAF Let’s Develop Women’s Football (LDWF) seminar on October 25 in Philadelphia.
Bien-Aime’s start in football makes for a unique story. She first played after becoming a mother and, thanks to her commitment, was selected as captain of the Turks & Caicos Islands women’s national football team. Following retirement from competitive play, Bien-Aime stepped away from the sport. In 2006, however, she was appointed to the position of General Secretary of the TCIFA.
Fast forward six years and Bien-Aime became the first woman elected to an executive post in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU). This year, she was elected as TCIFA President and currently participates globally at FIFA and regionally with CONCACAF.
"To be able to participate in such a historic and life changing event to promote the women's game whilst empowering women in the sport is phenomenal,” said Bien-Aime. “If sharing my story about how football changed my life can inspire others to dream more, learn more and become more, then CONCACAF's goal in hosting such an event will have been accomplished.”
CONCACAF looks forward to the contribution of Mrs. Bien-Aime, as well as fellow panelists Kari Seitz and Cedella Marley.
The gathering is being held alongside the semifinals, match for third place and final of the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship, taking place at PPL Park, October 24-26, in nearby Chester, Pennsylvania.
You can follow the October 25 conference online at CONCACAF.com from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. ET.
