MIAMI, Florida – The Panamanian Women’s National Team will finish their historic debut at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup on Wednesday playing against France at the Sydney Football Stadium in Sydney, Australia in Group F.

This is the first time these teams will have faced each other, having had time to analyze the other to make a game plan on how to succeed in these last 90 minutes.

Panama started their Women’s World Cup campaign with a defeat against Copa America champions Brazil but showed much of the grit and determination that made them successful in the inter-federation playoffs. Their second match was a historic event against Jamaica, the first time two teams from Concacaf faced each other in a Women’s World Cup group stage match.

In both games, one of the stars of Las Canaleras was GK Yenith Bailey, who stopped every scoring chance she could, showing the world why she was the Golden Glove winner of the 2018 Concacaf W Championship.

Another player that was revolutionary for Panama was FW Riley Tanner, as she took advantage every time, she had a chance on the ball, creating some of the most dangerous plays for her team in the minutes she was on the pitch.

France arrives at the contest at the top of Group F after defeating Brazil. FW Eugenie Le Sommer is one of the most revolutionary players on Les Bleues and will try to capitalize on every chance she has.

Another player the Panama defense has to be aware of is France DF and Captain Wendie Renard, who is a lock in the defensive area but also a guarantee when attacking the opposing area.

For the last time in this Women’s World Cup, Panama will show why they are a coming force in the international women’s football scene, looking for their first ever points on the biggest stage of the sport.
