MIAMI, Florida – All six winners from Day 1 of 2022 Concacaf W Qualifying return to action on Saturday in hopes of taking maximum points from the February window against sides making their W Qualifying debut.

After an impressive 4-0 home victory against Antigua and Barbuda, Puerto Rico will take on Anguilla in Group A. The Boricuas got top performances in their opener from Cristina Torres and Laura Suarez, who each had a pair of goals against the Benna Girls.

As for Anguilla, their preparation for the tournament included a pair of friendlies with Saint Kitts and Nevis in which they fell 3-0 in the first contest, but delivered a standout defensive display in the second, which ended in a 0-0 draw. Anguilla will hope for a similarly strong 90 minutes in the back against Puerto Rico.

Guatemala flexed their scoring muscles in an emphatic 9-0 home victory over US Virgin Islands, but now a stiff test awaits the Chapines, who travel away to face Curacao in Group B. Six different players scored for Guatemala, including braces for Leslie Ramirez and Andrea Alvarez.

Among the players to watch for Curacao will be youngster Sadeyah Rosa, who scored three goals for Curacao in 2022 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship Qualifying. Rosa will look to continue that fine form with the Senior Women’s National Team.

Dominican Republic were the other country on Wednesday that scored nine goals in a commanding 9-0 triumph over Grenada, with Alyssa Oviedo notching a hat-trick and Manuela Lareo bagging a brace.

Now, they face their second match in Group C at Cayman Islands, who boast one of the best young strikers in the Caribbean in Molly Kehoe, who finished as the leading scorer of CWU20 Qualifying with five goals. Experienced MF Shanice Monteith and DF Kaela Ebanks also should provide a big boost.

El Salvador are out to make it six points from two games when they travel to the Dominican Republic to play Aruba. The Cuscatlecas rode a Mara Rodriguez hat trick to a 6-0 win over Belize to open play in Group D.

They face an Aruba side that has experience in defense with Chameral Luitjes and Donnevier Luitjes, who will try to put the clamps on Rodriguez and the El Salvador attack.

Cuba grabbed the first three points in Group E with a 3-0 triumph over Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and now will take on the British Virgin Islands in Honduras.

Yeranis Lee, Laura Moreno and Rachel Pelaez were the goalscorers against Vincy Heat and will look to do the same against a BVI side brimming with youth and led by captain Ariel Mohamed.

Guyana will try to earn their second straight win in W Qualifying when they head to Turks and Caicos Islands. The Lady Jaguars were 4-0 winners on Wednesday against Dominica to start Group F, with four different players accounting for the goals, including Shanice Alfred’s superb right-footed strike.

Meanwhile, Turks and Caicos Islands will look to make great strides in their football development and have a strong presence in defense with center back Carlleah Lewis.
