SAN CRISTOBAL, Dominican Republic – Shakira Duncan scored four goals and Jamaica posted a 14-0 victory over St. Lucia on Friday in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Caribbean Cup at the Estadio Panamericano.

The result lifted Jamaica into a Group 5 first-place tie with the Dominican Republic on three points each, though the Reggae Girlz are ahead on goal difference (+14 to +7).  St. Lucia was eliminated from the competition after two first-round games.

The Jamaicans were ahead 2-0 before half an hour had elapsed thanks to strikes from Omolyn Davis (2’) and Sashana Campbell (28’)’ second-minute strike.

Duncan made it 3-0 in the 37th minute with her first tally.  The former University of West Florida standout (55’, 56’, 61’) netted three more in the second half.

Jamaica went into half-time with a 5-0 lead after Donnakay Henry (45’+2) found the back of the net and an own-goal by Ellaisa Marquis (45’+6).

After the break, in addition to Duncan’s continued outstanding play, Alexa Allen (67’, 74’, 86’) hit for a hat-trick.

Kenesha Reid (79’), Amy Loughran (88’) and Sherona Forrester (90’) also contributed a goal each.

The host Dominican Republic and Jamaica will meet on Sunday in the group decider, with the visitor needing only a draw to secure a final round berth.

The CFU Women’s Caribbean Cup is the region’s championship for national teams that is also serving as a Women’s World Cup qualifying competition.
