BRIDGEIVEW, Illinois -- The United States moved closer to booking spot in the semifinals of the 2014 CONCACAF Women's Championship after recording a 5-0 Group A victory over Guatemala on Friday night.
Tobin Heath scored two goals and Carli Lloyd, Whitney Engen added one apiece for the Americans (2-0-0, 6 points) at
Toyota Park. Guatemala (0-0-2, 0) was eliminated from contention for a semifinal berth and an opportunity to qualify for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.
The USA needs only a draw against Haiti in its final group match in Washington, D.C. Monday night to clinch a spot for
the world championship in Canada. The Haitians (1-0-1, 3) dropped a 1-0 decision to Trinidad & Tobago (1-0-1, 3) in the opening game of the doubleheader.
