MIAMI – Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns President of Business Operations Mike Golub will be one of four participants in the “Women’s Professional Football Leagues” panel at the CONCACAF Let’s Develop Women’s Football (LDWF) seminar on October 25 in Philadelphia.

Golub helped lead the launch of the Portland Thorns in their inaugural 2013 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season, as the Portland Timbers became the first MLS club to also own and operate an NWSL club.

The Thorns have quickly become one of the most successful women’s professional clubs in the world, averaging more than 13,000 fans per game in each of their first two seasons.  This unprecedented level of support has translated into on-field success with a league title in year one and a semifinal appearance in 2014.

After holding executive posts at several professional sports teams and leagues, Golub was named COO of the Portland Timbers in March 2010 and helped lead the organization during its transition to Major League Soccer (MLS).  A two-time recipient of the MLS Executive of the Year award (2011, 2013), he oversees all business operations for the Timbers and Thorns.

CONCACAF looks forward to Mr. Golub’s contribution on the “Women’s Professional Football Leagues” panel alongside the NWSL Executive Director Cheryl Bailey, Heike Ulrich (Germany) and Linda Wijkström (Sweden).

The gathering is being held alongside the semifinals, match for third place and final of the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship, taking place at PPL Park, October 24-26, in nearby Chester, Pennsylvania.

You can follow the October 25 conference online at CONCACAF.com from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. ET.
