GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala – Qualifying for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup kicked off in CONCACAF on Tuesday with a Central American Zone tripleheader at the Estadio Mateo Flores.

In the opener, Jenny Alarcon (2’, 34’, 45’, 58’) struck for four goals as Honduras outraced Belize, 8-0. Host Guatemala, which advanced to the final round of CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifying in 2010, followed next with a 1-0 win over Panama.  Maria Monterroso (24’) scored the only goal in a game that featured six yellow cards, three for each team.  In the 63rd minute, 16-year-old Aisha Solorzano – who played and scored a goal in the 2013 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship – entered the game, making her Women’s World Cup Qualifying debut.

The day ended with El Salvador topping Nicaragua, 2-0.  The damage was inflicted by Francisca del Carmen Gonzalez (67’) and Damaris Quelez (86’) with second-half goals.

Action resumes on Thursday, when Costa Rica takes the field for the first time.

The group winners will progress to the CONCACAF Women’s Championship later this year in the United States as well as meet on May 26 for a single place in the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.
