ANTIGUA, Guatemala – Trinidad & Tobago international Dwane James trained for the first time with Antigua GFC on Wednesday, a day after the Guatemalan champion announced his signing.
The 27-year-old is expected to reinforce a defense that lost another T&T standout, Mekeil Williams. In a press release on Monday, Antigua stated that Williams was leaving to pursue an opportunity with a Major League Soccer club.
James last played with Barrackpore United in Trinidad’s CNG National Super League’s Championship Division during the final months of 2015. He has also competed for the North East Stars, San Juan Jabloteh, St. Ann’s Rangers and Ma Pau.
In the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, James came on as a 78th substitute for Khaleem Hyland in T&T’s 4-4 draw with Mexico for his only tournament appearance.
Antigua GFC, which has qualified for the 2016-17 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League, currently occupies the top spot in the 2016 Apertura table with 10 points from four games.
