TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – The Final Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continued with Honduras earning a 3-nil win over Haiti in Group C on Monday at Estadio José de la Paz Herrera Uclés in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Rigoberto Rivas opened the scoring in the 18’ to hand Honduras the lead, striking with a chip from the right side of the box to capitalize on a precise long ball over the opposition’s back line from Kervin Arriaga.
Anthony Lozano doubled the lead for the hosts in the 26’ with a right-footed shot to cap off a fast break. Luis Palma provided the assist on the play.
Romell Quioto increased the advantage for Los Catrachos in the 40’, picking up possession and finding the back of the net from the left side of the six-yard box.
Honduras pushed in search of another goal throughout the second half. The Central Americans came closest with a header from Getsel Montes in the 54’, and a powerful volley from inside the box from Alexy Vega in the 83’, but both chances were met by saves from Haiti goalkeeper Johny Placide.
Goalkeeper Edrick Menjívar delivered another solid performance for Honduras, recording three saves, as he secured a fourth consecutive clean sheet in the Final Round.
With the result, Honduras climbs back into first place in Group B with eight points. Haiti remains at five points heading into the November window.
Up next for Honduras is a visit to Nicaragua on November 13. Haiti will aim to bounce back when it travels to Costa Rica on the same day.
