MIAMI – Honduras and Costa Rica sealed their place among the top two in their respective groups as the Second Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026 continued on Saturday.

The Road to the 2026 continues for Concacaf nations with the final encounters of the Second Round during the June 2025 match window. The group winners and runners-up will progress to the Third and Final Round.

Cayman Islands 0, Honduras 1

Honduras won 1-nil against the Cayman Islands in Group A at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in George Town, Cayman Islands.

The lone goal of the encounter came in the 86’ from an own goal off Cayman Islands defender Wesley Robinson, caused by a strike in the box from Carlos Mejía.

The result secures Honduras’ place in the Third and Final Round as one of the top two sides from the group. Los Catrachos will conclude their campaign against Antigua and Barbuda on Tuesday.

The Bahamas 0, Costa Rica 8

Costa Rica won 8-nil against The Bahamas in Group B at Wildey Turf in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Alonso Martínez opened the scoring in the 20’ with a left-footed finish inside the box.

Joseph Mora extended the lead in the 37’ with a powerful shot through the ground.

Alejandro Bran added a third for Los Ticos in the 45’+2’ from a free kick.

Orlando Galo continued the scoring in the second half with a shot off the volley in the 48’, meeting a service from Alonso Martínez.

Manfred Ugalde added a fifth in the 51’ with a finish from close range.

Warren Madrigal scored in the 64’ and the 79’ to collect his brace.

Álvaro Zamora struck from the edge of the box in the 90’ to put a bow on the victory.
