MIAMI. - It’s a thrilling Sunday slate on tap for Matchday 10 of the Third Round of FIFA World Cup qualification in the Concacaf region.

Canada vs USA

The matchday starts with a matchup between the teams that currently sit first and second in the table, with leaders Canada hosting the United States at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton. The historic series is in the United States’ favor, with 18 U.S. wins, a dozen draws and 10 Canada victories.

It’s been more than 41 years since Canada’s last win over the U.S. in World Cup qualification -- though the teams have met in three qualifiers since then.

Canada will feel primed for an historic triumph after beating Honduras in Honduras for the first time since 1985 on Thursday, with an own goal and a strike from Jonathan David keeping them atop the table. The U.S., meanwhile, will want to jump to the top spot in the table and comes in on a good note as well, having topped El Salvador, 1-0.

Mexico vs Costa Rica

Mexico and Costa Rica also meet after positive results, El Tricolor coming off a 2-1 victory in Jamaica and Los Ticos having seen off Panama, 1-0.

Mexico has kept a clean sheet in its last five home qualifiers against Costa Rica stretching back to the Germany 2006, something Joel Campbell and Thursday’s goalscorer Bryan Ruiz will look to change, especially after Mexico won in Costa Rica on September 5 behind a goal from Orbelin Pineda.

The only win that Costa Rica currently boasts in the Estadio Azteca in qualification was the famous 2-1 win in June 2001 when Rolando Fonseca and Hernan Medford scored to give Costa Rica the edge. Mexico will do everything possible to keep a similar result from happening on Sunday.

Panama vs. Jamaica

Panama welcomes Jamaica to the Estadio Rommel Fernandez looking to re-establish its hold on fourth place, and the playoff position that comes with it, after the loss to Costa Rica on Thursday. Panama never has lost to Jamaica in World Cup qualification, with its most recent match a 3-0 victory in Kingston in September. Goals from Andres Andrade, Rolando Blackburn and Cecilio Waterman paced Panama to the largest win in the series history.

Waterman is out with injury this time around, but the other players from that match will hope to repeat history. Jamaica, in its second qualifier under new manager Paul Hall, needs to find a win that can put it closer to the qualification places, with forward Michail Antonio a candidate to find the first goal for Jamaica against Panama in World Cup qualification since Theodore Whitmore’s score in October 2004.

Honduras vs. El Salvador

It’s a Central American rivalry match between Honduras and El Salvador closing out Sunday’s schedule. The match will be the 83rd time the teams have met, with Honduras holding the edge all-time with 39 wins and 23 draws, while El Salvador have 20 victories. Los Catrachos are also coming in undefeated in the last seven qualification matches against El Salvador.

El Salvador has historically struggled against Honduras in both Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, never scoring a qualification goal against Los Catrachos on Honduran soil.

Attackers Enrico Duenas, Joaquin Rivas and Jairo Henriquez will look to write their names in the history books if they can finish past Honduras GK Luis “Buba” Lopez, while the hosts will be eager to extend that record and find a goal or two of their own through Alberth Elis, Anthony Lozano or Romell Quioto.
