PANAMA CITY, Panama – Panama internationals Luis Tejada, Alberto Quintero and Ricardo Buitrago flew into the Tucomen International Airport on Monday to begin training for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Mexico (September 1, away) and Trinidad & Tobago (September 5, home).

The Peru-based trio arrived in good form after league games over the weekend.

Tejada and Quintero were on target in host Universitario’s 3-2 win over Union Comercio on Sunday.  Quintero (23’, 36’) netted twice in the first half, while Tejada (90’+4) converted a penalty kick in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time for the game-winner.

Two days earlier, Buitrago played all 90 minutes in Juan Aurich’s 2-1 loss to visiting UTC Cajamarca.

All other foreign-based players receiving a call-up will join the squad in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, for a training camp scheduled to open on August 26.

Panama currently sits fourth in the CONCACAF Hexagonal table on seven points after six games, one point behind the third-place United States.
