MEXICO CITY – After suffering injuries in Liga MX games this past weekend, forward Angel Sepulveda and midfielder Elias Hernandez will miss a pair of upcoming Mexico friendlies, the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol announced.

Sepulveda sprained his right ankle in Queretaro’s 1-1 draw against visiting Santos on Saturday and will be replaced by Pumas midfielder Jesus Gallardo.

The Tricolor will not call in another player for Hernandez, who helped host Leon earn a 3-2 win over Tigres by leveling the score at 1-1 with a 34th minute strike.  The 28-year-old has a knee injury for which requires treatment.

In preparation for the final round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Mexico will face New Zealand on October 8, in Nashville, Tennessee, and Panama on October 11 in Bridgeview, Illinois.
