SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic The United States are champions of the Concacaf Under-20 Women’s Championship for a fifth time after defeating Mexico 4-1 in the Final of the 2020 CUW20 on Sunday afternoon at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Both Trinity Rodman and Mia Fishel bagged braces to earn the U.S. the victory.

Mexico had a dream start by taking a 1-0 lead in the 6’ through Silvana Flores, who hammered in a left-footed shot from outside the area.

The response from the U.S. was immediate and Rodman brought her side level 1-1 in the 12’ with a right-footed volley.

The U.S had the momentum and nearly took a lead in the 38’ when Katelyn Duong’s shot hit the post. The go-ahead goal would come though in the second half, as Fishel pounced on a rebound, giving the U.S. a 2-1 advantage in the 49’.

Fishel would strike again seven minutes later in the 57’ with a header for her 13th goal of the tournament that extended the lead to 3-1.

Rodman then completed her brace with a right-footed finish in the 88’ to cap the 4-1 scoreline.
