MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship concluded with Canada winning its third title, 3-2 over Mexico after extra time, in the Final on Sunday at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

Sienna Gibson broke the deadlock in the 50’ with a right-footed finish from the top of the box, meeting the assist from Liana Tarasco to place Canada in the lead.

Montserrat Saldívar tied the encounter in the 61’ with a conversion from the penalty spot, scoring her seventh goal in the 2025 edition.

Mariángela Medina exited the match with a red card in the 90’ as the Mexican contingent was reduced to ten players.

Ending in a 1-1 draw in regular time, the match went to extra time to decide a winner.

Adriana Bianchin restored the Canada lead in the 96’ off a corner kick opportunity.

Saldívar struck inside the box in the 98’ to meet a ball over the top from Alice Soto. Saldívar collected her brace to extend her tally to eight goals as the tournament’s top scorer.

Mexican goalkeeper Camila Vázquez denied Annabelle Chukwu from the penalty spot in the 119’ to keep the match at two apiece.

Chukwu found redemption in the 120’+2’, dribbling through the left side of the penalty area, by striking the match-winning goal and securing the trophy for her nation.

Canada are winners of the Women’s U-20 Championship for a third occasion. The Reds also won the 2004 and 2008 edition.
