MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship concludes Sunday with Mexico and Canada meeting in the Final at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Both nations are two-time winners of the competition and will be vying for their third title. Mexico are the reigning champions and will seek a second consecutive trophy. Canada last won the tournament at the 2008 edition.
This will be the 11th encounter between the North American nations and the first in the championship match. They share an overall record of four wins and two draws, with Mexico unbeaten in the last five matches played.
Canada made history by defeating the United States for the first time in the 2025 semifinals, earning a spot in its fourth final and first in 10 years. The young Canucks have been one of the best offensive teams with the likes of Léa Larouche and Annabelle Chukwu, the top scorer for Canada with four goals.
Defending champion Mexico has shown why its rising prowess in the tournament by reaching its fifth consecutive Women’s U-20 Championship Final. Montserrat Saldívar, the leading scorer of the competition with six goals, and Alice Soto are some of the leaders of this generation that seek to give El Tricolor its first back-to-back run.
