MIAMI – The FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025 continued on Thursday, as the United States of America earned a 3-nil victory against Italy in the in the Round of 16 at Estadio El Teniente in Rancagua, Chile.
Benjamin Cremaschi opened the scoring in the 15’, striking off the rebound to convert on a U.S. corner kick chance. Italian goalkeeper Jacopo Seghetti denied the initial attempt from Nolan Norris, before Cremaschi redirected the ball over the goal line.
Niko Tsakiris doubled the lead in the 79’ by scoring on a free kick opportunity, striking the ball around the wall and off the left post into the net.
Cremaschi sealed the victory with his second of the encounter in the 90’+3’, assisted by Luke Brennan. Cremaschi increased his tally to five in the 2025 edition to take the lead in the Golden Boot race.
The U.S. will play in the Quarterfinals on Sunday against the winner of the Morrocco and Korea Republic match.
