MIAMI, Florida – The 2022 Concacaf Men’s Under-20 Championship in Honduras kicks off on June 18 and among the teams taking aim at Group F will be 13-time champions Mexico.

El Tricolor are participating in their 27th CMU20 and will be hoping to win their first title since the 2015 edition and also qualify for their 17th FIFA Men’s Under-20 World Cup.

With an overall record of 95W-21D-13L, with 338 goals scored and just 74 against, no team is more accomplished at the CMU20 level than Mexico.

An excellent runner-up finish in the 2018 tournament was capped by the performance of Jose Juan Macias, who became Mexico’s all-time CMU20 top scorer with 10 goals.

Trinidad and Tobago are no strangers to the CMU20, as they will be making their 21st appearance in the tournament.

The Soca Warriors are always competitive and have a runner-up finish (1990) and two third-place finishes (1974, 1986) to their name. They have also qualified for two U-20 World Cups (1991, 2009).

Overall, the Caribbean side boast a 24W-22D-36L record in the CMU20, with 104 goals scored and 140 conceded. Isaiah Lee (4) and Jabari Mitchell (3) are Trinidad and Tobago’s all-time top scorers in the CMU20.

Suriname will be making their second straight CMU20 appearance and eighth overall in Honduras, with the goal of reaching the knockout stage for the first time in their history.

Rievaldo Doorson was the main man in attack for Suriname in the last tournament, finishing with two goals and a team-high three assists.

Overall, Suriname have a 8W-0D-11L record in the CMU20 and will attempt to qualify for their first ever U20 World Cup.

Haiti will also be the third Caribbean team in Group F in what will be the 10th CMU20 appearance for Les Grenadiers, who have never qualified for a U20 World Cup.

Haiti finished fifth in both the 2003 and 2007 tournaments and overall possess a record of 8W-5D-18L with 42 goals scored and 61 conceded. Jonel Desire, with six goals, is Haiti’s all-time CMU20 top scorer.
