MIAMI – The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 saw four Concacaf nations display their skill on the world stage, in addition to advancing their development in the women’s game.
Ahead we look back at each nation’s participation in the 2025 edition.
Canada
Canada opened its eighth campaign at a FIFA U-17 World Cup with a perfect 3-0-0 record in the Group Stage, finding the net 12 times and only conceding twice. With victories against Nigeria, Samoa, and France, the Canadians topped Group D to clinch a spot in the Round of 16.
Daniela Feria-Estrada, Melisa Kekic and Chloe Taylor led the way offensively against Zambia to secure Canada 's spot in the Quarterfinals. Canada bowed out of the tournament following a goalless draw with Brazil in the next round, where the South Americans advanced 5-4 on penalties.
Costa Rica
Costa Rica made its third appearance in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, and first since 2014, recording a 0-1-2 record to finish fourth in Group A. Rising stars for Las Ticas, Lucia Paniagua and Naima Moya scored the goals for the Central American nation in the 2025 edition.
Mexico
Mexico returned to the podium at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup with a bronze medal finish at the 2025 edition, its second-best ever finish after being the runners-up in 2018.
El Tricolor fell 2-nil in its opening encounter against eventual champions Korea DPR, and responded with consecutive wins over the Netherlands and Cameroon to finish second in Group B with a 2-0-1 record. Citlalli Reyes led the way with the match-winning goal in consecutive encounters.
Berenice Ibarra secured the goal that led Mexico past Paraguay in the Round of 16. Valentina Murrieta took the baton in a goalless draw against Italy in the Quarterfinals, stopping two penalties in regulation followed by another spectacular showing to win 5-4 in the penalty shootout.
A rematch with the Netherlands saw Mexico end its title chase with a 1-0 defeat in the Semifinals. Mexico drew 1-1 with Brazil, winning 3-1 on penalties, in the Third Place Match, as Murrieta once again took the spotlight en route to receiving the tournament’s Golden Glove.
United States of America
After a bronze medal finish in 2024, the USA kicked off its seventh FIFA U-17 World Cup campaign with a 3-0-0 record to finish first in Group C, providing the best offensive display of the Group Stage with 13 goals in favor.
The United States’ run came to an end in the Round of 16, eliminated 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands. Nyanya Touray, Lauren Malsom, and Micayla Johnson finished the tournament as the U.S.’s top scorers with four, three, and two goals, respectively.
