MIAMI — Round One of the 2026 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers continues with opening matches in Groups C, D, and E on Sunday.

Group C matches will take place in Curaçao, Group D will be played in Aruba, and Group E will be hosted in Nicaragua. 

Group C 

Guatemala vs. Cayman Islands 

Guatemala will face the Cayman Islands in Group C at Stadion Rignaal ‘Jean’ Francisca in Willemstad, Curaçao.  

It will mark the third time Guatemala faces a Caribbean opponent in the Qualifiers, and first against the Cayman Islands. Guatemala won its other two encounters, defeating Curaçao 3-1, and Anguilla 5-nil in 2025. 

The Cayman Islands haven’t had much luck against Central American teams in the history of the tournament, blanked 7-nil by Costa Rica in 2010, and falling 12-nil to El Salvador in 2024.

Haiti vs. Antigua and Barbuda 

Haiti will take on Antigua and Barbuda in Group C at Stadion Rignaal ‘Jean’ Francisca in Willemstad, Curaçao.  

The two previously met in a 6-nil victory for Haiti on September 20, 2013, in Port-au-Prince. 

Haiti enters on a four-game win streak in this phase of Qualifiers, the third-longest run in the history of the Preliminary Rounds. 

Antigua and Barbuda is winless with five losses and two draws in prior encounters against Caribbean teams in the Preliminary Round. Their most recent result is a 1-1 draw against Saint Lucia in 2017.

Group D 

Jamaica vs. Guyana  

Jamaica will take on Guyana in Group D at Stadion Guillermo Prospero Trinidad in Oranjestad, Aruba.  

The meeting marks the second meeting between the nations in the Women’s U-17 Qualifiers. 

Their prior match was a 5-nil Jamaica win in 2011, thanks to a hat trick from Shadie Shirley, along with tallies from Tiffany Robinson and Nicola Broderick 

Jamaica is undefeated against Caribbean teams in qualifiers. Guyana is winless in nine such matches against Caribbean opposition, scoring only two goals. 

Honduras vs. Aruba 

Honduras will face Aruba in Group D at Stadion Guillermo Prospero Trinidad in Oranjestad, Aruba.  

Honduras is undefeated against Caribbean opposition in the history of Qualifiers, with two wins and two clean sheets while racking up 19 goals. In 2021, La H defeated Turks and Caicos 7-nil and then blanked Anguilla 12-nil a few days later. 

Aruba enters this one on a six-game losing streak. In their last eight matches, they only have one win which was a 4-nil result over Curaçao in the 2010 edition of the Preliminary Phase.

Group E 

Cuba vs. Grenada

Cuba takes on Grenada in Group E at Estadio Miguel Chocorrón Buitrago in Managua, Nicaragua.  

Cuba is 4-6-1 all-time against Caribbean opponents in the history of the tournament. Their most recent appearance in the Qualifiers ended in a 6-nil loss to Haiti on August 29, 2023. 

It will be Grenada’s ninth match against Caribbean opposition, as they are 1-5-2 in the previous encounters. Its lone victory was a 2-nil win over Saint Kitts and Nevis in 2007. Since then, they are on an eight-match winless run. 

Costa Rica vs. British Virgin Islands 

Costa Rica faces the British Virgin Islands in Group E at Estadio Miguel Chocorrón Buitrago in Managua, Nicaragua.  

Lucia Paniagua #10 of Costa Rica topped the charts with seven goals, followed closely by teammate Nubia Medina with five.

Costa Rica is undefeated against Caribbean teams in the history of Qualifiers, tallying 22 combined goals while only conceding two. Its most recent victory was a 9-1 rout of Bermuda on April 5, 2025, fueled by a Nubia Medina hat trick and Daniela Ocampo brace.
