DOMICAN Republic – Both Group E and Group G will come to a close on Wednesday at the 2022 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship in the Dominican Republic, with several teams still looking to secure their place in the next round.

The first games of the day will take place in Group G, with the United States taking on Costa Rica in a duel between the group’s top two sides at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo.

The U.S. have outscored opponents 33-0 through just two games and boast the tournament’s top scorer in Amalia Villarreal, who has six goals.

The Ticas have also been impressive with 13 goals in their two victories, but it has been more of a spread-the-wealth approach, with 10 different players accounting for the team’s goals.

Both sides have already clinched a spot in the next round, but that is not the case in Group G’s other game, with Grenada taking on fellow Caribbean side Puerto Rico at the Estadio Panamericano in San Cristobal.

The Boricuas hold the advantage on goal difference, so a draw would suffice for Puerto Rico, while Grenada will need a win to advance. Each side has a goal to their name in the tournament and will be looking to kickstart their respective attacks on Wednesday.

Group E leaders Mexico return to the field of play on Wednesday at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez, where they will face Trinidad and Tobago.

El Tricolor have punched their ticket to the Round of 16, but the Soca Warriors are still in the mix despite having lost their first two games.

Mexico have been paced by the excellent Valerie Vargas, who has five goals in the tournament, while Breana Smith has scored the lone goal for Trinidad and Tobago.

The group will then wrap up with Panama meeting Nicaragua at the Estadio Panamericano. Each side has a win under their belts and will be keen to make it two prior to the knockout stage.

Daniela Hincapie leads the way for Panama with three goals, while Nicaragua has scored their four goals from four different players.
