MIAMI – Round One of the 2026 Concacaf Women’s Qualifiers got underway with the opening matches in Groups A, B and F on Saturday.
The Dominican Republic and Nicaragua got off to winning starts in Group A, while Panama and Bermuda were victorious in Group B. Trinidad and Tobago and Curaçao played out the only draw of the day in the opening fixture in Group F.
Group A
Dominican Republic 7-0 Dominica
Group A opened with the Dominican Republic winning 7-nil against Dominica at Estadio Miguel Chocorrón Buitrago in Managua, Nicaragua.
Caelyn Jiménez put the Dominican Republic in front in the 8’, finding the back of the net from the center of the box to capitalize on a cross from Emelie Asenjo.
Blair Vera doubled the lead for Las Quisqueyanas in the 21’ with a spectacular finish from long-range.
The Dominican Republic struck two more times before halftime, with Giocarla Durán securing a brace with goals in the 40’ and 45’+1’.
Jiménez scored her second of the night in the 47’ to further extend the lead for the Dominican Republic, with right-footed hit from outside the box.
A brace from Jabes Martínez, with a goal from close range in the 79’ and another from the center of the box in the 90’, rounded out the result for the Dominican Republic.
Nicaragua 6-0 Belize
The second match in Group A saw hosts Nicaragua secure a 6-nil triumph against Belize at Estadio Miguel Chocorrón Buitrago in Managua, Nicaragua.
Midfielder Stefany Miranda played a key role for Nicaragua with four goals in the win. Miranda scored from inside the box in the 2’ and 52’, before scoring a free kick in the 70’ and a spectacular goal from outside the box in the 90’+3’.
Maxie Teofilo struck from inside the box in the 32’, and Marian Ruiz from long range in the 60’, to score the other goals in the Nicaragua victory.
Group B
Panama 8-0 Bonaire
Group B began with Panama earning an 8-nil victory over Bonaire at Bermuda National Sports Centre in Devonshire Parish, Bermuda, in what marked the first match of Round One of the Qualifiers.
Gabriela Rodríguez handed Panama the lead in the 25’ with the first goal of the tournament, striking inside the box with a powerful finish to the center of goal.
Las Canaleras scored three goals in a span of six minutes to expand their advantage: Cristabella Ríos scored with a header in the 29’, and inside the box in the 34’, while Alisson Samudio slotted the ball at the bottom left corner in the 35’.
Shaday Mow bagged two second-half goals for Panama, converting a penalty in the 60’ and finding the back of the net from inside the box in the 67’.
Alexa Ortega converted another penalty in the 79’, before Vera Batista scored a free kick in the 85’, for the final result.
Bermuda 7-0 Suriname
Group B hosts Bermuda secured a 7-nil win against Suriname at Bermuda National Sports Centre in Devonshire Parish, Bermuda.
Bermuda opened with two first-half braces to take the advantage: Evans Welch scored in the 4’ and 32’, while Milan Gibbons-Thomas in the 16’ and 28’.
Gibbons-Thomas scored her third goal of the match with a right-footed effort from outside the box in the 63’.
Nadia Madeiros further extended the lead from close range in the 68’, before Gibbons-Thomas secured her fourth strike in the 74’ to close out the victory.
Group F
Trinidad and Tobago 2-2 Curaçao
Trinidad and Tobago and hosts Curaçao drew 2-2 to open Group F at Stadion Rignaal ‘Jean’ Francisca in Willemstad, Curaçao.
Jacelynn Jubithana opened the scoring to place Curaçao in the lead in the 52’, applying pressure to recover possession in the final third before sending the ball to the back of the net with a right-footed hit from outside the box.
Jade Jones equalized for Trinidad and Tobago in the 58’ with a left-footed rocket from long-range.
Sanni Wilson completed the comeback for Trinidad and Tobago in the 80’ with a left-footed finish from the center of the box.
Curaçao’s Xiarleahmay Martis Nocento tied the match at 2-2 in the 83’ with a header from close range.
