MIAMI – Costa Rica, Mexico and the United States begin their campaigns at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 on Saturday at the Football Academy Mohammed VI in Salé, Morocco.
The three nations and Canada, who will kick off its campaign on Sunday, are the four Concacaf representatives at the 2025 edition by virtue of their performances in the 2025 Concacaf U-17 Women's World Cup Qualifiers.
Italy vs. Costa Rica
Costa Rica meets Italy in Group A on Saturday at Football Academy Mohammed VI (Pitch 1) in Salé, Morocco.
Las Ticas return to the U-17 Women’s World Cup after an 11-year absence, previously doing so as the hosts in 2014. The only Central American representative in the 2025 edition, Costa Rica will make its third overall appearance.
Costa Rica and Italy also met during the Group Stage of the 2014 tournament, when the European side took a 1-nil win.
Mariela Campos, María Coto, Sofía Varela, Fabiola Villalobos, and Gloriana Villalobos were part of the squad at the 2014 edition and have gone on to become stalwarts in Costa Rica’s senior women’s national team, helping the nation to numerous milestones, most recently through participations in the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup and the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Korea DPR vs. Mexico
Mexico meets Korea DPR in Group B on Saturday at Football Academy Mohammed VI (Pitch 1) in Salé, Morocco.
Runner-ups in 2018, Mexico returns to the U-17 Women’s World Cup seeking to return to the Knockout Round after consecutive exits in the Group Stage of the past two editions. The 2025 tournament will mark Mexico’s eight participation.
Korea DPR is the defending champion after winning its third title in the category at Dominican Republic 2024. The Asian side met Mexico to open its campaign in the 2024 edition, starting its championship run with a 4-1 victory.
Citlalli Reyes scored the lone Mexico goal in the previous encounter between the two nations. Reyes delivered five goals to finish as the Top Scorer and earn a Best XI selection in the Final Round of the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers.
Reyes, alongside players like Fernanda Monroy, Alexa Martínez and Vanessa Paredes will take the pitch in Morocco, seeking to make more history for Mexico in the U-17 category.
USA vs. Ecuador
USA meets Ecuador in Group C on Saturday at Football Academy Mohammed VI (Pitch 3) in Salé, Morocco.
After finishing in third place at Dominican Republic 2024, the United States returns to the tournament with ambitions to reach the championship match. The U.S.’ best finish came as runners-up in the inaugural edition in 2008.
Four players return from the 2024 squad, including Golden Glove winner Evan O'Steen. Thirteen member of the current 21-player roster were part of the participants in the Final Round of the 2025 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers.
