DOMINICAN REPUBLIC– The Round of 16 of the 2022 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship in the Dominican Republic continues on Sunday with another eight teams in action.

Canada vs. Honduras 4:00 PM EDT

Group F winners Canada will face Honduras at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo to start the day.

The Canadians finished with a 2W-1D-0L record in the group stage, while outscoring opponents 16-1. Canada will take on a Honduras side that advanced from last fall’s CWU17 Qualifying tournament in which the Catrachas won all three matches with 25 goals scored, five from Anyeli Rodriguez, and none conceded.

Jamaica vs. Cuba 7:00 PM EDT

The other game at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez will be Jamaica squaring off with Cuba. The Reggae Girlz finished second in Group F, right behind Canada on goal difference, while Cuba, in their first ever CWU17, reached the knockout stage via a third-place finish in Group H.

Natoya Atkinson has led the way for Jamaica with three goals, while the Cuban defense has proven very stout, allowing just five goals in the group stage.

El Salvador vs. Saint Kitts and Nevis 4:00 EDT

El Salvador head up the day’s games at the Estadio Panamericano in San Cristobal, as they face Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The Cuscatlecas won all three of their matches in Group H, scoring 11 goals and allowing none. Carolina Ayala and Mia Arevalo have been the most consistent scorers for the side, with two goals each.

Saint Kitts and Nevis qualified for the Round of 16 thanks to a first-place finish in Group A of CWU17Q when they defeated both US Virgin Islands and Suriname.

The one to watch will be 16-year-old FW Jahzara Claxton, who already has scored for Saint Kitts and Nevis’ Senior Women’s National Team and had two goals in CWU17Q.

Haiti vs. Dominican Republic 7:00 PM EDT

Rounding out the day in San Cristobal will be Haiti and host nation Dominican Republic in what will be an exciting clash between two Caribbean neighbors.

Haiti captured second-place in Group H with a pair of wins, while the Dominican Republic came third in Group F in what is their first ever CWU17.

Walandjina Cyriaque has two goals for the Haitians thus far in the tournament, while the home side has been paced by Julia Jimenez and Renata Mercedes with two goals each.
