Three available FIFA U-17 World Cup Uruguay 2018 spots on the line

Miami (Friday, May 11, 2018) – The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) announced today that the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship, which was suspended on April 22, due to security concerns at the venue in Nicaragua, will resume play on June 6. IMG Academy, in Bradenton, FL, USA will host the remaining matches. 

All participating Member Associations that still have an opportunity to qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Uruguay 2018 – Haiti and Mexico from Group A and Bermuda, Canada, Costa Rica and United States from Group B – will dispute the remaining group stage matches from June 6-8. The group winners, plus the second-place finishers will advance to the semifinals to be played on June 10. The final and third place match of the competition will take place on Tuesday, June 12. 

Originally scheduled to be played April 19-29, at the Estadio Nacional, in Managua, Nicaragua, the women’s youth championship was postponed after three match days, due to force majeure. Concacaf announced the suspension of the remaining games in Nicaragua to guarantee the safety of the delegations, all participants and fans.

In the previous edition of the Concacaf Under-17 Women’s Championship played in Grenada in 2016, the United States won its third straight championship at this level, with a 2-1 win over Mexico in the final.
