MIAMI, Florida – Both the United States and Mexico will be back in action on Wednesday in the 2023 FIFA Under-17 Men’s World Cup in Indonesia.
Fresh off their opening 3-1 triumph over South Korea in Group E, the U.S. now take aim at Burkina Faso at the Jakarta International Stadium in Jakarta.
The U.S. were led by Nimfasha Berchimas in their first match, as the 15-year-old Charlotte FC product scored a goal in each half.
Cruz Medina, who scored three goals in the 2023 Concacaf Men’s Under-17 Championship, also got on the scoresheet to help lift the U.S. to the three points.
Now, with a win over Burkina Faso, the U.S. would be well-positioned to secure a place in the knockout round going into their group stage finale. Burkina Faso were defeated 3-0 in their first match against France.

Mexico will be keen to bounce back from their opening match in Group F, a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Germany, when they meet Venezuela at the Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung.
Mexico endured a frustrating opening 60 minutes to the Germany and found themselves down 1-0 before finishing strong and getting a goal from Tahiel Jimenez.
The 2023 CMU17 champions will now try to carry that momentum into Wednesday’s contest with Venezuela, who were 3-0 victors against New Zealand to start the tournament.
