MIAMI – The FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 continues on Wednesday with three Concacaf nations opening their campaigns.

Canada, Panama and the USA will kick off their participation in the Group Stage. Each side is aiming to win the tournament for the first time.

Panama vs. Republic of Ireland

Panama meets Ireland in Group J at Aspire Zone - Pitch 3 in Doha, Qatar.

Panama returns to the tournament for a consecutive occasion and fourth participation overall. The Central Americans will aim to advance past the Group Stage for the second time, and only other since the 2011 edition.

Panama has not lost any of their last two matches in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, drawing both of their recent matches in the 2023 Indonesia edition. This will be the third time they face a UEFA opponent in the competition as they look for their first-ever victory against one (L2).

USA vs. Burkina Faso

The United States will make its 19th participation, matched only by Brazil, and seeks to win its first world championship in the category. The USA’s best finish came as fourth place of the 1999 edition.

The United States was the team that created the most 10+ pass sequences ending in a shot during the 2025 Concacaf Championship, with a total of 11. They were also the team that scored the most goals from these sequences in the competition, along with Haiti (3).

● Chase Adams was the top scorer of the 2025 Concacaf U-17 Championship with 11 goals in just two matches. The United States forward scored 10 goals against the U.S. Virgin Islands, the highest single-game total for a player in this competition since 2017.

● Cavan Sullivan, called up by the United States for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup, is the second-leading assister for Philadelphia Union in MLS Next Pro with five, just behind CJ Olney (8). He is also the second most frequent passer for shots after a carry (13) and the third top-scorer (6) for his team.

Canada vs. Uganda

Canada meets Uganda in Group K at Aspire Zone - Pitch 9 in Doha, Qatar.

The Reds will make their ninth overall appearance and third consecutive, the first time the nation accomplishes that feat. Canada will seek to advance past the Group Stage for the first time in its history.

Canada completed a perfect run in Group A of the 2025 Concacaf U-17 Championship with four wins, earning their spot in the FIFA U-17 World Cup. They were also the second highest-scoring team in the competition with 28 goals, just behind the United States with 31.

● Canada averaged four goals per game in the second half of matches during the 2025 Concacaf U-17 Championship, the highest of any team in the tournament (16 goals in four games). Aidan Evans was the top scorer in this period (4 goals, tied with Lazaro Díaz of Cuba).

● Shola Jimoh (Canada) is the second highest assister for York United in the Canadian Premier League (4, tied with two other teammates). He is the only player under 20 in the competition with more than one assist in the tournament.
