PANAMA CITY, Panama – Panama and visiting El Salvador played to a 1-1 draw Thursday at the Estadio Maracana in a friendly match used as preparation for next month’s Central American qualifying competition for the 2017 CONCACAF Under-17 Championship.

After a scoreless first half, Eduardo Guerrero gave the host a 1-0 lead in 67th minute, when he used speed to elude a defender, before firing into the back of the net

Two minutes later, El Salvador levelled through Lisandro Mejia.

The sides also met Tuesday, with Panama earning a 3-1 win on goals by Jorge Clement (13’, 29’) and Guerrero (59’). Jorge Cortez (87’) scored the lone Salvadoran goal.

Next up for the Panamanians is a pair of friendlies against Costa Rica October 29 and 31.

The Central American under-17 qualifiers will be played November 17-26 at the Estadio Ernesto Rohrmoser in Pavas, San Jose, Costa Rica.
