MIAMI – The FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 continued on Tuesday with four Concacaf nations beginning their campaigns, including El Salvador taking part in the tournament for the first time.
Haiti, Honduras and two-time champions Mexico also kicked off their participation in the Group Stage. The four nations suffered losses and will seek to rebound in their second encounters on Friday.
Brazil 7, Honduras 0
Honduras fell 7-nil to Brazil in Group H at Aspire Zone - Pitch 3 in Doha, Qatar.
Ruan Pablo (9’), Dell (15’, 45’+4’), Felipe Morais (19’), Vitor Hugo (59’), Angelo (74’), and Gabriel Mec (90’) struck the goals that led Brazil to victory. Yeison Arriola had four attempts at goal for Honduras.
La Bicolor will retake the field against Zambia on Friday.

● Yeison Orriola recorded three of the six shots from Honduras in the match against Brazil. The forward is the only player to have attempted at least one shot in every game player by La Bicolor across the 2025 Concacaf U-17 Championship and the current FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Mexico 1, Korea Republic 2
Mexico lost 2-1 to Korea Republic in Group F at Aspire Zone - Pitch 1 in Doha, Qatar.
Koo Hyeonbin opened the scoring in the 19’, but Aldo de Nigris responded for Mexico in the 44’ to equalize. Nam Ian retook the lead for the Asian side in the 49’.
El Tricolor will face Côte d'Ivoire for its second group stage encounter on Friday.

● Mexico accumulated 2.19 xG from their 17 shots against South Korea, compared to just 0.87 xG from the Asians’ eight attempts. Since 2017, El Tri had only lost one previous match when generating more than 2 xG (vs. Italy in the 2019 group stage).

● Gael García is the first Mexican player to record as many crosses (7) and chances created (6) in a single FIFA U-17 World Cup match for el Tri since 2013.
● Michael Corona recorded the highest passing accuracy among player with 50 or more passes in a single match so far at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, with a 98.4% (60/61).
Haiti 1, Egypt 4
Haiti fell 4-1 to Egypt in Group E at Aspire Zone - Pitch 5 in Doha, Qatar.
Belal Attia placed Egypt in the lead in the 3', before Abdelaziz Elzoghby doubled the advantage for the African nation in the 11'.
Nikolai Pierre took one back for Haiti in the 20’, but Hamza Abdelkarim added a third for Egypt in the 27'. Omar Kamal added a fourth in the 72' to wrap up the win for the Egyptians.
Les Grenadiers will kick off the action on Friday against England.

● Haiti dominated possession for the fourth consecutive match across the Concacaf U-17 Championship and the current FIFA U-17 World Cup, recording 54.5% against Egypt. However, this was the first time across this run that they failed to attempt at least 10 shots.
● Marc-Arthur Alcimé made six crosses against Egypt, the most by any Haitian player in the match. No player from Haitian team has made more crosses this year across the Concacaf U-17 Championship and the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup (26 – tied with Medinel Zamor).

Korea DPR 5, El Salvador 0
El Salvador made its FIFA U-17 World Cup debut with a 5-nil loss to Korea DPR in Group G at Aspire Zone - Pitch 9 in Doha, Qatar.
Ri Kang-Rim opened the scoring in the 14’. Kim Yu-Jin converted from the penalty spot to extend the lead in the 45’+1’. Kang-Rim and Yu-Jin collected their braces in the 68’ and 88’, respectively, before Han Il Bok closed the scoring in the 90’+5’.
La Selecta will meet Colombia in its next group encounter on Friday.

● Oliver Alegria made ten saves against North Korea, the highest number of saves by a goalkeeper in the current FIFA U-17 World Cup, tied with Melvin Prakash of Fiji against Tunisia.
● Rafael Inojosa completed 87% of his passes against North Korea (26 out of 30). He was second in this category for El Salvador in the last CONCACAF U-17 Championship among players with 90+ passes, with 84% (83 out of 99).
● Luis Tobar was El Salvador's player with the most attempts against North Korea with three. In the last Concacaf Championship, he was the Salvadoran player with the highest number of shots in a match: seven against Saint Lucia.
