at West Bay, Cayman Islands (Ed Bush Stadium)

Aruba 6, Sint Maarten 0

GOALS:  Jean-Pierre van der Linden 7’, 49’; Ryan Illes 14’, 67’; Denrick Lopez 38’; Jason Fontalvo 70’+2

 

Man of the Match:  Jean-Pierre van der Linden (Aruba)

 

Jean-Pierre van der Linden and Ryan Illes netted two goals each to propel Aruba to a 6-0 victory over Sint Maarten.  The win improved Aruba to 2-0-0, keeping it in contention for a place in the semifinals.  Van der Linden now has three goals in the competition, sharing the team scoring lead with Denrick Lopez, whose 38th minute goal gave Aruba a 3-0 lead.  Team captain Jason Fontalvo completed the scoreline two minutes into second-half stoppage time with his first goal.  Sint Maarten, which lost to the Cayman Islands on Tuesday, fell to 0-0-2.

Bahamas 0, Bermuda 1

GOAL:  Osagi Bascome 26’

 

Man of the Match:  Osagi Bascome (Bermuda)

 

In what was arguably the match of the day, Bermuda narrowly defeated the Bahamas, 1-0. Osagi Bascome, one of the tournament’s standout performers after three days of play, scored the game-winning goal in the 26th minute.  The match was highlighted by solid technical play from both sides, with an emphasis placed on possession and speed of play.  Bermuda improved to 2-0-0 and has yet to concede a goal.  The Bahamas fell to 0-0-2.  Bascome won the Man of the Match award for the second time in two games and has two goals over that stretch.

 

 

 

at George Town, Cayman Islands (Truman Bodden Sports Complex)

Cayman Islands 8, US Virgin Islands 0

GOALS:  Leighton Thomas Jr. 4’, 6’, 9’; Ryan Jackson 13’; Dante Ramoon 20’; Elijah Seymour 24’; Cameron Gray 30’; Jordan McLean 62’

 

Man of the Match:  Leighton Thomas Jr. (Cayman Islands)

 

The Cayman Islands ended the night leading Group A over Bermuda on goal difference (+20 to +9) after an 8-0 win over the US Virgin Islands.  The red-hot Leighton Thomas Jr. scored three more goals – all in the opening nine minutes -- giving him a tournament-best eight.  Five different players accounted for Cayman’s other five goals.  The competition host, which has yet to concede a goal, improved to 2-0-0, while the US Virgin Island is still looking for its first point.  Cayman and Bermuda will meet on Friday in what promises to be a hotly-contested encounter.
