MIAMI, Florida – The September window of matches in the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League comes to a close, highlighting the week in the Concacaf region.

2023-24 Concacaf Nations League

The final matches of the September window of the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League will be played, with key contests in League A, League B and League C.

League A

Group B takes center stage in League A with all six teams in action, including a Caribbean showdown between Jamaica and Haiti in Kingston. Jamaica enjoyed a victorious start to their campaign with a 1-0 home win versus Honduras. Now, they get a second straight encounter in front of their home fans against a Haiti side that played to a 0-0 draw with Cuba in their opener.

This should be an exciting contest considering the performances of these teams on big Concacaf stages in recent years. Since 2015, Jamaica have reached two Concacaf Gold Cup Finals and four semifinals in total, while Haiti were semifinalists themselves in the 2019 Gold Cup.

Jamaica leads the all-time series with a 13W-2D-9L record, including a 1-0 win in the 2015 Gold Cup quarterfinals.

Both teams are loaded with attacking talent. The Reggae Boyz can point to English Premier League players Demarai Gray, Bobby Reid and Leon Bailey, while Haiti have their own fearsome trio of Mondy Prunier, Carnejy Antoine and Derrick Etienne.

League B

Group C and Group D will round out the action in League B on Tuesday night, with all eyes on a pair of young strikers in Group D who have captured everyone’s attention thus far in this CNL.

Omari Glasgow of Guyana has a knack for scoring goals in the CNL, having scored three in the previous edition in 2022-23. The 19-year-old has already matched that total after just one match by scoring a hat trick in Guyana’s opening 5-1 over Antigua and Barbuda. Now, Glasgow and Guyana will take aim at another three points in a home affair with Bahamas.

At age 23, Joel Burgos of Puerto Rico is slightly older than Glasgow, but he has been just as effective in this CNL, scoring a hat trick himself in a 6-1 victory against Bahamas. That is on top of the two goals he scored in the previous CNL campaign. Burgos and the Boricuas will look to make it two wins from two matches when they face Antigua and Barbuda.

League C

A great duel between prolific strikers will be on the docket on Monday night in League C when Saint Martin square off with Bonaire. One of the sensations of this CNL so far has been the play of Saint Martin FW Axel Raga. In his first ever match with the National Team, Raga scored four goals to take the lead as the top goalscorer in the entire tournament.

Raga will be keen to add to his total, but on the other side there will be another great goalscorer in the form of Bonaire’s Ayrton Cicilia. Bonaire came within a whisker of earning promotion to League B in 2022-23 and much of that had to do with Cicilia, who tormented defenses with five goals scored.

It will be fascinating to see how the two measure up on Monday night.
