MIAMI, Florida – This Monday FIFA announced that 13 referees from the Concacaf region have been selected to participate in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup this summer in France.
Five referees and eight assistant referees will represent the Concacaf region.
“The selection of five referees and eight assistant referees to the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 speaks highly of the quality of referees we have in our Confederation,” said Concacaf Director of Refereeing Brian Hall.
“With the opportunity to perform on the world stage just over six months away, I know that our referee team will continue to dedicate themselves to exceeding all expectations. We have a strong team with a track record of world-class work and I am certain they will continue to make Concacaf and their Member Associations proud,” added Hall.
The five referees selected are: Marie-Soleil Beaudoin (CAN), Melissa Borjas (HON), Carol Anne Chenard (CAN), Ekaterina Koroleva (USA) and Lucila Venegas (MEX).
Beaudoin comes off of refereeing the 2018 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup Final between Mexico and Spain, while Chenard will be refereeing in her third FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Chenard’s impressive resume includes refereeing in 11 Concacaf tournament and nine FIFA tournaments, including the 2011 Women’s World Cup Final, the 2014 Under-20 Women’s World Cup Final and the Final of the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
The eight assistant referees who will work at next summer’s tournament in France are: Chantal Boudreau (CAN), Princess Brown (JAM), Enedina Caudillo (MEX), Mayte Chavez (MEX), Felisha Mariscal (USA), Kathryn Nesbitt (USA), Shirley Perello (HON) and Stephanie Yee Sing (JAM).
