MUNICH, Germany – Bayern Munich announced Monday that it has loaned United States international Julian Green to fellow German Bundesliga side Hamburg through the end of the 2014/15 season.
The three-time capped midfielder rose to prominence at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, scoring the Americans’ only goal in a 2-1 Round of 16 loss to Belgium.
After playing for multiple German national youth sides, FIFA approved Green’s change in nationality request, which allowed him to participate at Brazil 2014.
The 19-year-old, who is in Prague for the USA’s friendly against the host Czech Republic, is under contract with Bayern until June 30, 2017.
