MIAMI, Florida – This Friday at 7:00 PM ET, Concacaf will be airing a re-broadcast of the 2018 Scotiabank Concacaf League Final second leg between FC Motagua of Honduras and CS Herediano of Costa Rica, followed by the 2019 SCL Semifinal second leg between Deportivo Saprissa and CD Olimpia. Both matches will be shown on Concacaf’s Facebook and YouTube pages, plus the Concacaf App.

The second leg of the 2018 SCL Final saw Herediano enter the contest with a 2-0 lead on aggregate following their decisive victory at home in Costa Rica the prior week.

But from the first second of action in the second leg, Herediano knew they were going to be in a heavyweight fight for the next 90 minutes, as a jam-packed Estadio Tiburcio Carlos Andino in Tegucigalpa bursting with Motagua fans greeted the two teams.

Motagua was the aggressor from the opening whistle, but had to wait until the first minute of stoppage time before they could carve into the two-goal deficit.

A run from Kevin Lopez down the right flank ended with a cross and a thumping header from Rubilio Castillo to give Motagua a 1-0 lead at the break, cutting the Herediano aggregate advantage to 2-1.

The momentum was with Motagua and Castillo would once again polish off his finishing boots in the 58’ by receiving a pass and firing in a right-footed shot to make it 2-0 to Motagua in the match and 2-2 on aggregate.

The Final was on a knife’s edge going into the final 30 minutes with both teams seeking the decisive score.

Just when it looked like extra time would be on the docket, Herediano would silence the home fans with the winning goal in the 84’, as a slick backheel pass from Jose Ortiz found the onrushing Jimmy Marin, who calmly finished into net earning Herediano the title with a 3-2 aggregate victory.
