BURIRAM, Thailand Curacao’s preparation for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup continued on Wednesday with a 3-1 win over India in the 2019 King’s Cup played in Buriram, Thailand.

Curacao started off strong and Rolieny Bonevancia coolly converted the first goal in the 15’ with a sweeping right-footed shot off a pass from the right flank from Gevaro Nepomuceno.

Three minutes later, Elson Hooi doubled the lead to 2-0 by cleverly beating India’s offside trap, rounding the goalkeeper and firing in from the narrowest of angles for the goal.

The Curacao defense had to stay on its toes, as India continued fighting and it was soon 2-1 when Sunil Chhetri converted a penalty kick in the 31’.

But Curacao would not allow India to build any momentum and Leandro Bacuna restored the two-goal advantage with an excellent right-footed finish in the 34’ for a 3-1 lead.

From there, the Curacao defense took over and kept the India attack under wraps until the final whistle.

Curacao opens its 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup campaign on Monday, June 17 against El Salvador.
