San Diego, Kansas City bound for NWSL semifinals

MIAMI – The time has come for the most exciting part of the professional leagues across Concacaf.
The playoffs and the most decisive moments have started and fans are on the edge of their seats for
far more than the 90 minutes.

The playoffs are underway in the NWSL, keeping emotions high until the very last second as everyone waits to see who will emerge victorious.

- Nothing is set in stone until the final whistle. With a late goal in the 90’+10, Kate Del Fava helped her the Kansas City Current become semifinal bound by downing the Houston Dash 2-1 on Sunday evening. Lo’eau LaBonta opened the scoring via a penalty kick for the Current, followed by Sophie Schmidt who evened things out for the Dash at 1-1. But thanks to Del Fava’s late goal, Kansas City will play against OL Reign for a spot in the Final.

- 26,215 fans attended the Snapdragon Stadium, not only breaking another NWSL attendance
record on Monday afternoon, but also to see the San Diego Wave qualify to the Semifinals thanks to a 2-1 win versus the Chicago Red Stars. Yuki Nagasato was the first goalscorer of the night for Chicago in the 10’, Emily van Egmond leveled things up for the Wave in the 67’. The one and only Alex Morgan scored in the 110’ to give her team a chance to fight for a spot in the Final against the Portland Thorns.

The Liga MX Femenil is just two weeks from the start of the Liguilla, as the postseaon picture comes
into focus.

- Monterrey is not slowing down after beating current leaders Guadalajara 1-0 on Monday evening. With a goal from the always present Christina Burkenroad, Rayadas took the three points at home as Burkenroad became the season’s top scorer.

- Club Leon surprised everyone by downing Tigres on Monday afternoon, 2-0. Argentina international Mariana Larroquette scored the two goals of the day, both in the second half, helping her team grab three points to end the season on a high.

- Cruz Azul is keeping their good run going by winning 1-0 over Pachuca on Saturday evening. Ana Lozada was the only goal scorer of the night, using her abilities to further secure La Maquina’s spot in la Liguilla.

The Liga de Clausura of Costa Rica finished their pending games, leaving everything up for the grabs for all the teams.

- LD Alajuelense found victory again by imposing their will in a 2-1 win against CS Herediano thanks to goals from Shirley Cruz and Mia Corbin. Celeste Jimenez leveled things up for Herediano after Cruz’s opener, but Corbin’s goal proved decisive in the end.

- Sporting is not slowing down, keeping the top spot of the table. On Sunday, they won against
Dimas Escazu thanks to Cristin Granados, who scored the only goal of the match.

- Municipal Pococi grabbed the points on Saturday afternoon and are now sitting in six place in
the table after winning 2-0 against Saprissa FF, with second half goals from Maria Cespedes and Judith Rocha.
