MIAMI – The most exciting thing about football is that no matter where you go, the rules of the game stay the same. El Salvador international Samaria Gomez, currently playing for Elpides Karditsas of the women’s professional league in Greece, knows this.
The 20-year-old forward has been proving her talent around the world, but not only in Europe. In 2019, she made the decision to move to Nicaragua where she won back-to-back trophies in the country’s championship.
Looking for new challenges and to keep showing her skills, she crossed the Atlantic and landed at French club Le Havre AC. She is part of the history of the club, as she was on the pitch when the club got promoted to the first division, Division 1 Feminine.
After her journey in France, Gomez took on another challenge to keep growing, signing in September with the Greek team Elpides Karditsas. It is a team that has history in its country and the women’s league. Elpides Karditsas have participated in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, demonstrating that they have the talent and spirit that it takes to compete in the top European tournament.

Elpides Karditsas now sit in the fifth place in Group 1 of the Greek A Division and will be looking forward to taking the pitch again and improving to reach the next stage of the league.
Gomez is also part of the squad of the senior Women’s National Team with El Salvador, making her debut this year in a 2022 Concacaf W Championship qualifying match against Barbados, where La Selecta won 2-0 over the Caribbean side.
Gomez was also a key part of El Salvador’s Under-20 Women’s Team that competed at the 2020 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship in the Dominican Republic, featuring in three games and scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Guatemala.
With her entire future ahead of her, Gomez will keep shining in every team she plays and with her national team, helping both club and country to grow into the best version of themselves.
