Dinenno, Rusnak head up 2022 SCCL SF 1st leg Best XI

MIAMI, Florida – The first legs of the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League semifinals are done and dusted, leaving fans with a number of notable individual performances from players.

Here is the Best XI from this week’s matches.

GK Stefan Frei, Seattle Sounders

Frei was his usual solid self in goal for Seattle, making three saves and completing 93 percent of his passes in the Sounders’ 3-1 victory over New York City FC.

DF Alan Mozo, Pumas

Mozo continues to show why he is one of the elite fullbacks in the Concacaf region. His inch-perfect cross set up Juan Dinneno’s second goal for Pumas in the 2-1 win versus Cruz Azul. Mozo also had a steal and completed 74 percent of his passes.

DF Arturo Ortiz, Pumas

It seemed like any chance for Cruz Azul was snuffed out by Ortiz. Whether it was an aerial duel or a Cruz Azul counterattack, the 29-year-old was there to put the clamps down. Ortiz finished with four steals in all.

DF Jackson Ragen, Seattle Sounders

This is Ragen’s first ever SCCL and he has taken to it nicely, delivering another big defensive performance for Seattle, making a steal and completing 27 of 28 passes.

DF Alex Roldan, Seattle Sounders

Roldan teamed up with his brother Cristian to form a fearsome right flank for Seattle. Roldan completed 91 percent of his passes and also chipped in with a steal.

MF Albert Rusnak, Seattle Sounders

The winter arrival from Real Salt Lake scored his first goal for the Sounders, finishing off a well-constructed team goal to for the opening score. Rusnak also had two steals and completed 42 of 49 passes.

MF Nicolas Lodeiro, Seattle Sounders

Lodeiro scored his second goal of the 2022 SCCL by calmly converting a penalty for Seattle’s third score. The Uruguayan was his usual pesky self for opposing defense, with three shots and 82 percent of passes completed.

MF Jordan Morris, Seattle Sounders

Morris led the way for the Sounders, serving as the assist man on Rusnak’s opener before his right-footed rocket for the second goal of the night for the home side.

FW Juan Dinenno, Pumas

Dinenno’s dream tournament continued in full force with another two goals against Cruz Azul. The Argentine striker now has an astounding seven goals in just five games played. Overall, Dinenno recorded seven shots on the night.

FW Christian Tabo, Cruz Azul

Tabo’s shift may have only lasted 18 minutes, but he certainly made it worthwhile with a composed finish to deliver Cruz Azul a crucial away goal.

FW Raul Ruidiaz, Seattle Sounders

Ruidiaz completed 10 of 14 passes and also drew the foul that resulted in a penalty, leading to Seattle third goal of the night. Ruidiaz ended the night with three shots.
