History

Established in 2018, the Caribbean Club Shield has a primary objective of advancing professional football throughout the Caribbean. Participation is open to semi-professional and amateur teams holding current championship titles in their respective domestic leagues.

The tournament format involves a Group Stage, Semifinals, a Third-Place Match and Final.

Club Franciscain of Martinique won the first edition in 2018, followed by SV Robinhood of Suriname in 2019. The tournament did not take place in 2020 and 2021 due to challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The tournament restarted in 2022 with Puerto Rico’s Bayamón FC becoming the first club to win the tournament as a host.

In 2023, SV Robinhood emerged victorious in both the Caribbean Club Shield and the Caribbean Cup, solidifying its position as the most successful team in the history of the Caribbean Club Shield with two championship titles.

Arnett Gardens became the first Jamaican side to win the CFU Club Shield during the 2024 edition.
