Quarterfinals of the Concacaf Caribbean Club begin this Thursday

CURACAO. - The quarterfinals of the 2019 Concacaf Caribbean Club Shield will start this Thursday after an exciting final day of the group stage that came down to the wire.

The matches will be played at Ergilio Hato Stadium and Dr. Antoine Maduro Stadium in Willemstad, Curaçao.

In the first game of the day, Cayman Islands’ Scholars International, a team boasting seven Honduran-born players and who finished third in Group A, will face Dakota FC of Aruba, who was one of the best third-place teams in the group phase.

In other action, Real Rincon of Bonaire will seek to advance to the semifinals against Platinum FC of Santa Lucia.

The action will then continue between Rams Village Superstars of Saint Kitts and Nevis, who won two matches in Group C while scoring four goals and only conceding two, and historic side SV Robin Hood of Suriname, who finished second in Group D and has the dangerous Stefano Russel, who scored four goals in the group stage.

FC Santiago de Cuba, who finished in first place in Group A, will take on Weymouth Wales FC of Barbados. The main weapon of the Santiago de Cuba attack is Cuba international Rolando Domingo Abreu, who scored two goals in the group stage. FC Santiago has four players from Cuba´s national team that qualified for the 2019 Gold Cup.

Club Sportif of Guadeloupe, who finished unbeaten at the top of Group B, will meet a Jong Holland of Curacao side that finished tied for first place in Group A with five points with a Santiago de Cuba team that had the better goal difference (+4).

The quarterfinals will wrap up with defending champion Club Franciscain of Martinique, winner of Group D and Green Bay Hoppers of Antigua and Barbuda, who finished second in Group C.

The semifinals will be played on April 13 at the Ergilio Hato Stadium, and the final on April 15. The winner of the Concacaf Caribbean Club Shield will play a playoff game against the fourth place team of the Caribbean Club Championship to determine the fourth spot in the 2019 Concacaf League.
