MIAMI, Florida – The United States were edged 5-4 by Egypt in extra time in Group A on Monday to conclude their participation in the 2024 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup at the Dubai Design District Stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

It was a back-and-forth affair throughout the match, as Egypt held a 2-1 lead after the first period, with Alessandro Canale providing the U.S. goal.

The U.S. enjoyed their best spell during the second period in which they scored three goals to take a 4-2 lead into the final period. Austin Collier and Alessandro Canale scored within 13 seconds of each other early in the period, before Andres Navas found the back of the net with just two seconds remaining until Interval 2.

But Egypt would fight back and get two goals in the third period to force a second straight extra-time ending for the U.S., and then Egypt found the match-winner through Elhusseini Taha for the 5-4 final scoreline.
