ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – Both Guatemala and Trinidad and Tobago earned wins to punch their ticket to the knockout round of the 2021 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship on Wednesday at the Sports Complex Fedefutbol-Plycem in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
In Group B, Guatemala defeated Dominican Republic 10-1 to claim second spot in the group and a place in the next round. Pablo Crocker and Juan Flores each had braces, while Wilson Gonzalez, William Alvarez, Angel Saenz, Leandro Bachez, Miguel Gonzalez and Edwin Lopez added goals. Inoel Navarro scored for the Dominican Republic.
El Salvador finished Group B in first place with a perfect 3W-0D-0L record after topping Bahamas 7-2. Ruben Batres and Francisco Velasquez had braces and were joined on the scoresheet by Eliodoro Portillo, Exon Perdomo and Jason Urbina.
Lesly St. Fleur accounted for the scoring for Bahamas with two goals, giving him seven in the tournament. Bahamas have also advanced to the knockout round.
In the lone match in Group A, Mexico took the top spot with a 5-3 win over Panama thanks to braces from Cristofher Castillo and Jair Aleman and a Diego Rodriguez goal. Eliecer Garcia, Alfonso Maquensi and Jose Escobar scored for the Canaleros.
In Group C, Trinidad and Tobago secured their place in the next round with a 7-5 win against Turks and Caicos Islands. Jabari Gray, Shallun Bobb and Dominic McDougall had braces and Ryan Augustine chipped in with a score. For Turks and Caicos Islands, Herby Magny scored a brace, while Ledson Jerome, Jeff Beljour and Alex Bryan contributed goals.
Costa Rica edged the United States 5-4 to take the top spot in Group C. Greivin Pacheco notched a hat trick, while Christian Sanchez and Frandert Arrieta tallied goals for the Ticos. The U.S. got goals from Christopher Toth, Jason Santos, Gabriel Silveira and Christopher Albiston.
