MANAGUA, Nicaragua – Newly named head coach Antonio Macias is ready for the challenge of leading the Nicaragua women’s national team at next month’s Central American & Caribbean (CAC) Games in Veracruz, Mexico.

The 27-year-old was presented at a press conference on Saturday by Jacinto Jose Reyes, the new President of the Nicaraguan Football Federation.

"It's an honor, a pleasure to represent a country like Nicaragua," said an enthusiastic Macias, a former head coach of CD Utrera in his native Spain.  "When they offered me the opportunity I did not hesitate at any time because I want to keep promoting football in Nicaragua.”

Macias will rely on the experience of his predecessor, Jeniffer Fernandez, who had been leading the squad since July.

"In these three weeks (before the competition starts) our training methodology, our model of play, there will be no problem for the girls to assimilate," he explained.
