TIBAS, Costa Rica – Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica will be looking to overturn a two-goal deficit against Honduran club Olimpia when the two sides meet in the second leg of the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League semifinals on Thursday night at the Estadio Ricardo Saprissa Ayma in Tibas, Costa Rica.
Olimpia could not have asked for a better start to the two-legged tie, as a pair of goals from FW Jorge Benguche earned the Catrachos a 2-0 aggregate lead.
The 2017 SCL champions are also boosted by the play of MF Johnny Leveron, who led the team with seven ball recoveries in the first leg against the Ticos.
Nevertheless, Saprissa will still fancy their chances of a comeback.
In the six SCL matches played at the Estadio Saprissa, all six have been won by the home side, including three thus far by Saprissa in the 2019 SCL with eight goals scored and just three conceded.
Olimpia have also yet to find the win column when playing away in the 2019 SCL, with a 1-0 loss at Forge FC of Canada and a 0-0 draw at Guatemalan club Comunicaciones.
With 2019 SCL top scorer Johan Venegas (6) in the fold, the Monstruo Morado will be hoping for a magical night in front of the home fans.
