Kingston, Jamaica - Former champions Portmore United and Waterhouse FC will clash in the final of the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL), Jamaica’s top-tier competition.

That game is scheduled for the National Stadium next Monday. Kick off time is 8:30 pm Jamaica time.

Portmore, who is making its third-straight final, secured its spot when it blew away Cavalier SC 3-0 in the return-leg semi-final showdown 3-0 at the Spanish Town Prison Oval on Sunday. Both teams had ended 0-0 in the first leg a week earlier.

Javon East registered a double in the fifth and 72nd minutes, sandwiching a strike by Jermie Lynch in minute 48.

East, who on Sunday got his 15th goal of the season and is firmly in the race for the Golden Boot, declared that the RSPL title is more important than individual glory.

Humble Lion's Craig Foster is leading marksman on 17 goals.

"The aim is to win this season… we want to do one better than last year and now we have the chance as we are in the final once again," said the Jamaica striker.

Portmore coach Shavar Thomas, a former Jamaica international, praised his team for its workmanlike season.

“It is a long season and the players put in tremendous work, and it has prevailed with them being back in the final again,” he said.

Cavalier coach Rudolph Speid was gracious in defeat.

“I must say I believed Portmore was the better team today (Sunday), without a doubt. They played with more intensity and faster than us.

“But on the other hand, my the team did exceptionally well to reach here at this stage,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Waterhouse, which last won the title back in the 2005-06 season, built on its 1-0 first-leg semi-final lead, clipping defending champions Arnett Gardens 2-1 on Monday at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in the decisive leg for a 3-1 aggregate win.

On target for Waterhouse in the last match were Cardel Benbow (12th minute) and Tremaine Stewart (53rd), while Steve Clarke (10th) had put the dethroned Arnett ahead.
