MIAMI, Florida – Following their 0-0 draw in last week’s first leg, both Pacific FC of Canada and Jamaican club Waterhouse will be on a mission to break their series deadlock when they reconvene on Tuesday in the second leg of the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Preliminary Round at Starlight Stadium in Langford, British Columbia.
In what was their first ever Concacaf match, Pacific delivered a solid defensive performance against the Jamaicans in the first leg and had multiple chances to find the back of the net.
Alejandro Diaz and Gianni Dos Santos each registered three shots, while Manuel Aparicio was a workhorse in midfield with 37 passes completed and three ball recoveries.
However, it was not enough to find a way past Waterhouse GK Kemar Foster, who led all GKs in last week’s SCL matches with eight saves.
With Foster arriving into this contest in such fine form, Pacific will be keen to avoid the roulette of a penalty shootout.
Waterhouse boast their own weapons as well, including Denardo Thomas, who took two shots in the first leg and also completed 45 passes.
FW Devroy Grey will be another to keep tabs on. Grey had one of the best scoring opportunities for Waterhouse in their home first leg, so no doubt he would like a second crack at things on Tuesday.
